This work was simple to read. Something that kept drawing me in to continue reading. I never realized I could have such strong feelings for characters in books I pick up for "leisure" reading, but it made me feel that way about Autumn. Sometimes I thought I would experience all she was feeling. It's rather remarkable, isn't that what books are for, or why anyone should read at all? Perhaps it was because I could identify with Autumn and predict her next move or thought.
The reviews take me aback. I myself love reading a lot of books, and I'm not at all inspired by the TikTok app, which I don't own.I was searching for a new genre to read that wasn't my usual "sci-fi dystopian" books when I went to the bookstore. I found this book, and even though I dislike corny romance, I was hesitant to buy it after reading the synopsis. Nevertheless, I made the purchase.
I fell in love with this book after reading it. Though she exuded the usual 'I'm different' aura, Autumn was a likeable character and I appreciated her individuality; she wasn't dull. Although the language and the book itself are not particularly good, they were straightforward, easy to read, and refreshing. I occasionally yearn for the familiarity and regularity of reading. It serves as a sort of pre-meal snack before diving into the main course of heavier reading.
I might be biassed, though, for anyone who might read this review. As I previously indicated, I might not have had as high of expectations if I had read more in the romance genre because I wasn't as familiar with it.
In conclusion, despite the critiques, I think this was a terrific book and that it is still worthwhile to purchase. To each their own, I suppose. Like Star Wars, it has millions of fans, but some people, like me, find the amount of attention it receives puzzling.
